Resin Injection for Storm Manhole Rehabilitation
Project Overview
McBreen Enviro UK was engaged to rehabilitate two storm manholes, suffering from significant infiltration issues.
The project involved using Resin Injection technology to seal the manholes and prevent further water ingress, ensuring long-term integrity and performance of the drainage system.
Project Scope
• Manholes: Rehabilitation of storm manholes.
• Primary Goal: Prevent water infiltration through Resin Injection.
• Work Limitations: Maximum of five resin injections per manhole to address the infiltration.
Challenges
• Access Restrictions: The project site presented limited access, requiring careful coordination and planning to reach the manholes and perform the necessary work.
• Infiltration Severity: The extent of the water infiltration necessitated an effective solution that could restore the manholes’ structural integrity without disrupting the surrounding environment.
• Weather Considerations: Adverse weather conditions were a potential challenge, which required close monitoring to avoid delays.
Works Completed
• Resin Injection: Each manhole was treated with a maximum of five resin injections to effectively seal the infiltration points.
• Pre-Work Inspection: Detailed CCTV surveys and assessments were carried out to determine the most effective injection points.
• Project Coordination: The team managed site access challenges and weather delays, adjusting the schedule where necessary to ensure timely completion.
Result
The Resin Injection was successfully carried out on both manholes, effectively stopping water infiltration and restoring the system’s integrity.
The project was completed within the agreed timeframe, with minimal disruption to the surrounding area.
The client was satisfied with the results, and the drainage system is now secure, with reduced risk of future water ingress.
