UKSTT Masterclass – Renewal/New Installation

UKSTT Masterclass – Renewal/New Installation

DATE: Wednesday 29th April 2026

VENUE: Woodland Grange Hotel, Old Milverton Lane, Leamington Spa, CV32 6RN

A one day interactive Masterclass comprehensively covering New Installation and Renewal Trenchless options.

Session One – Learn from asset owners and their design teams how engineering optioneering methodologies can be adopted in the selection of No Dig techniques.

Gain insight from an asset owner’s perspective on addressing the many challenges involved in network replacement and implementing new strategic reinforcement throughout UK utility infrastructure.  While achieving the less disruption to customers and other stakeholders; balancing the need to meet programme deadlines and tackling the impacts such activity creates in the environment.

Session Two – Application of directional drilling techniques to address different utility installation challenges in varied of locations and ground conditions.

Experts will be discussing the range of methodologies adopted to undertake the installation of the smallest to largest scale of utility network assets; from short lengths to those of several kilometres. Applications include pressure pipelines & energy cables in a variety of sensitive locations & areas of congestive infrastructure. Diverse types of projects will be illustrated to show how HDD methodologies can adapt to overcome challenges while mitigating impact.

Session Three – Application of Micro-tunnelling techniques that can enable new assets to be installed and complex engineering challenges overcome
Experts will talk about the variety of micro tunnelling & other trenchless tunnelling techniques that are used as an alternatives to civil engineering solutions requiring complex ground engineering. Examples of how the various tunnelling techniques can be selected to provide increased hydraulic capacity for wastewater, and the delivery of onshore and offshoring energy connections will be discussed.

Session Four –Utilisation existing network assets by adopting online renewal solutions.

Experts will discuss how the use of modern polyethylene pipe is used with online trenchless renewal technologies to replace and refurbish existing underground assets by utilising the existing conduit in the ground. Techniques include on-line pipe splitting and tight fit lining, across a range of sizes, including large strategic pressure and gravity systems. The methodologies will be illustrating higher productivity than conventional trenching, with the benefits of reduced carbon and reinstatement of the highway.

Session Five  Trenching but limiting its impact.

Several experts will explore various trenching excavation methods used to lay utility networks, focusing on techniques that reduce the amount of trench needed and minimise restoration work when alternatives are not feasible.  The methods and examples related to mole-ploughing, narrow trenching, and vacuum excavation will be discussed.
