Young Professional Award Finalists 2025

YOUNG PROFESSIONAL

The UKSTT Chair award will go to the professional (<30 years) who can best demonstrate their contribution to Trenchless Technology. We will be looking for evidence of an understanding of Trenchless Technology, the individual’s contribution made, the quality of the submission, and the candidate’s vision for the future of Trenchless Technology.  The Winner of this award receives a Trophy and a £250 Amazon Gift Voucher.

Winners will be announced on the evening of the Awards Dinner on the 2nd October at Tortworth Court Hotel.

Michael Kavanagh – Environmental Techniques

Michael Kavanagh exemplifies the qualities of a Young Professional of the Year through his exceptional technical expertise, leadership, and commitment to innovation in trenchless engineering. Since joining Environmental Techniques, he has delivered complex, high-impact projects (such as Saltcoats and North Lodge) with outstanding environmental awareness, stakeholder engagement, and cost efficiency. His work consistently exceeds client expectations, advances sustainability goals, and raises industry standards. Michael’s ability to lead teams, manage technical challenges, and build lasting client relationships reflects a maturity and drive far beyond his years, making him a deserving candidate for this award.

Olivia Finnie – Wessex Water

Olivia is a hardworking and driven individual with a strong commitment to delivering high-quality, sustainable solutions, as demonstrated in her work at Merriott. This project tested and strengthened her technical skills and showcased her ability to lead projects under pressure, communicate effectively with stakeholders and deliver high-quality outcomes on time. Olivia’s attention to detail, problem-solving mindset, and commitment to keeping the project within budget were key to selecting the most effective solution. Olivia takes pride in her work through driving innovation, minimising disruption to customers and is continuously looking to develop her expertise in the evolving world of trenchless technology.

Jack Fuller – McAllister Group

Jack is a highly experienced Project Manager with eight years in trenchless technology across Australia and the UK, delivering Microtunnelling, HDD, CIPP lining, and GRP installations. He has successfully led major Thames Water rehabilitation schemes, consistently promoting innovation, safety, and environmental responsibility. His work has minimised disruption, reduced costs, and improved sustainability outcomes. Jack is passionate about advancing low-impact, data-driven infrastructure and actively champions smarter trenchless solutions. Over the last 18 months, he has played a key role in high-profile upgrades across the Thames Water network, cementing his position as a rising leader within the trenchless technology sector.
