Joseph Gallagher achieves the Workforce Assured accreditation
Joseph Gallagher Limited (JGL) has achieved Workforce Assured accreditation, recognising its commitment to responsible, ethical and legally compliant workforce management.
The independent accreditation follows a rigorous audit of JGL’s policies, systems and processes across its workforce and labour supply chain. The assessment covered areas including worker onboarding, labour supply, payroll, modern slavery, worker welfare, financial risk, social value and diversity, equity and inclusion.
The successful accreditation provides independent assurance to JGL’s clients, employees, workers and partners that the company maintains high standards in the way people are recruited, engaged and supported.
Recognising strong worker welfare
A particular highlight of the assessment was JGL’s approach to worker welfare, which was awarded Best Practice by the auditor.
The recognition reflects a range of initiatives supporting the wellbeing of JGL’s workforce, including its Employee Assistance Programme, mental health first aiders, toolbox talks and the award-winning LIFE programme.
The audit also recognised JGL’s established approach to social value, including local and client-led initiatives and apprenticeship activity.
Supporting responsible employment
The accreditation reflects JGL’s wider approach to responsible employment, including controls around modern slavery, financial and tax compliance, health and safety, fatigue management and confidential employee reporting.
JGL has established Modern Slavery policies and training, alongside procedures for managing working hours and fatigue. The company also provides channels for confidential reporting through HR, Observation Stations and CIRAS membership.
An important milestone for JGL
Workforce Assured was established to assess whether people employed directly or indirectly are engaged fairly, ethically and legally, with the audit extending to relevant labour and subcontractor supply chains.
JGL’s achievement places it among a growing number of construction and infrastructure organisations pursuing the Workforce Assured standard, including companies operating across construction, civils, rail and tunnelling.
Steve Harvey, CEO, comments: “Achieving Workforce Assured accreditation is an important milestone for Joseph Gallagher. It provides independent recognition of the standards we expect across our workforce and reinforces our commitment to ensuring that everyone working with JGL is treated fairly, ethically and with respect.
The accreditation also reflects our commitment to continuous improvement. We will continue to strengthen our processes, invest in our people and ensure that responsible workforce management remains central to the way we operate.”
