Investing in Capability and Growth
JGL has recently expanded its specialist fleet with the addition of a new AT120 All Terrain Directional Drill and M3000DH drilling fluid cleaning system. The equipment has already been deployed on the Carno Grid project in Wales, supporting the delivery of critical energy infrastructure works.
The AT120 provides 120,000 lbs of pullback and thrust force together with 15,500 ft-lbs of rotational torque, enabling JGL to undertake larger and more technically challenging horizontal directional drilling (HDD) installations. Complementing the drill, the M3000DH fluid cleaning system improves drilling fluid recycling, increases efficiency and reduces waste, strengthening the company’s self-delivery capability across the energy, utility and infrastructure sectors.

Driving Low-Emission Construction
Alongside investment in specialist construction equipment, NRC is continuing to develop its fleet through the evaluation of electric cranes and electric excavators, supporting customers’ sustainability goals and broader environmental commitments.
Electric plant technology offers a range of benefits, including zero local emissions during operation, reduced noise levels, lower fuel consumption and decreased maintenance requirements. These advantages make electric equipment particularly suitable for urban environments, rail projects, utility works and environmentally sensitive locations.
A recent example of this commitment has been the trial of an electric excavator on the Liverpool Bay Carbon Capture Project. The trial is providing valuable insight into the practical application of low-emission technology under real construction conditions, helping NRC evaluate machine performance, charging requirements and operational capability. Initial findings indicate operating durations of approximately eight to ten hours on a single charge, demonstrating the potential for electric excavators to support a wide range of construction activities while reducing environmental impact.

Working closely with manufacturers and industry partners, NRC is helping assess emerging technologies and providing operational feedback to support the development of future plant solutions.
