Morrison Utility Services (MUS), the UK’s largest dedicated utility service provider and part of M Group Services, has been named as the 2020 winner of the prestigious RoSPA Commercial Industry Sector Award for demonstrating consistent health and safety excellence.
The internationally-recognised sector award was presented to Morrison Utility Services in recognition of its achievements in health and safety management systems including practices such as leadership and workforce involvement. Morrison Utility Services is one of 24 overall sector-specific award winners named by RoSPA in fields as diverse as engineering, healthcare, transport and logistics, manufacturing and education.
Organisations receiving a RoSPA Award are recognised as being world-leaders in health and safety practice. Every year, nearly two thousand entrants vie to achieve the highest possible accolade in what is the UK’s longest-running health and safety industry awards.
Morrison Utility Services Managing Director Adam Gosnold commented: “The safety of our people and the communities we work in will always be a core value of our organisation. A strong safety culture is imperative as our people work round the clock, often in challenging conditions, to deliver the critical services that ensure water keeps flowing, people keep warm and lights stay switched on across the UK. This award from RoSPA reflects once again the effort and commitment of all our people, particularly those teams on our operational sites throughout the UK.”
Morrison Utility Services Director of Safety, Health, Environment and Quality Paul Kerridge adds: “This award from RoSPA is testament to the exemplary health and safety values, practice and performance that is inherent to our culture. Our people have contributed greatly to this achievement and we would like to thank all of them for their efforts.”
Julia Small, RoSPA’s Head of Qualifications, Awards and Events, said: “The RoSPA Awards scheme is the longest-running of its kind in the UK, but it receives entries from organisations around the world, making it one of the most sought-after global accolades in health and safety.
“RoSPA wants every employee, wherever they are, to work safe in the knowledge that they will be going home unharmed and healthy at the end of every day. The RoSPA Award winners are vital to help achieve this goal, as by entering they are driving up standards and setting new benchmarks for organisations everywhere. Currently, around seven million people are directly impacted by the RoSPA Awards, but the scheme’s influence is even wider.”
