Morrison Energy Services appointed to National Grid Electricity Transmission framework

Morrison Energy Services, a part of M Group Services, has been awarded a place on National Grid Electricity Transmission’s (‘NGET’) five-year substations mechanical and electrical (M&E) framework.

The framework will cover the next five-year regulatory period (April 2021 to March 2026) and includes the option to extend for an additional three years in single year increments.

Under the terms of the agreement, Morrison Energy Services will deliver M&E refurbishment, new build and/or minor works. This will include design, engineering, manufacture, supply, project management, build, erection and commissioning works within high voltage electricity substation environments.

Projects will be carried out on a variety of NGET assets including, but not limited to:

· Primary ‘switchgear’ equipment, (circuit breakers and bay refurbishments)
· Wound plant, super grid transformers (SGT) and shunt reactors
· Light current, small power works and protection and control works
· Tertiary connections (taking a 13kV connection from the tertiary winding of either a
275kV or 400kV SGT and connecting it to a 33kV transformer, providing an
independent power source for a discreet application)

Peter Carolan, Executive Director for Morrison Energy Services, commented: “We are delighted with this significant contract win that adds to our growing electricity transmission portfolio. We look forward to working with National Grid Electricity Transmission throughout the next regulatory period.”

Mike Winch, Head of Delivery for Morrison Energy Services, commented: “This framework award will enable us to evolve the strong and collaborative relationship that we have built with NGET. The award is testament to the efforts and ongoing high standards of project delivery provided by our build and installation teams and we look forward to continuing to deliver successful projects on behalf of National Grid over the next five years.”
