Jeremy Heath – Innovation Manager, SES Water
Presentation: Leakage Research and Gap in Repairs Research

With over 25 years’ experience in the Water Industry, and a background in both mechanical engineering and database applications, Jeremy is responsible for the management of innovation within SES Water. This involves both the development of an innovation culture and the introduction of new technologies into the Water Industry. He has a keen interest in innovations that will transform how we manage our water networks, in particular smart metering, smart networks, artificial intelligence and IoT communications. In addition to his role at SES Water, Jeremy is also the lead for the UKWIR national zero leakage project and is responsible for driving the UK leakage research programme.

Leo Carswell – Principal Consultant Technology & Innovation, WRc
Presentation: Project Details

Leo leads the Technology business area at WRc. He is passionate about the role new technology has in industry to enable change. In this role Leo is responsible for WRc’s activities in the development, assessment and implementation of a wide range of technology within the water, waste and environmental sectors. This includes the WRc Approved™ fitness for purpose scheme and leading WRc’s activities in Scotland on the Hydro Nation Water Innovation Service. Leo led WRc’s technical delivery of the recent UKWIR ‘Transferring Minimal Excavations to the Water Sector’ project and has worked with the gas sector for many years on the transfer of CIPP technologies from water to gas applications. Leo has a PhD in instrumentation for water quality monitoring with over 20 years of wide-ranging experience gained while working at WRc.

Jo Parker – Technical Director, Watershed Associates Ltd
Presentation: Project Introduction

Jo Parker is a chartered civil engineer and has worked in the water industry for over 40 years. She has held a variety of roles with UK water companies. Jo currently works as an independent consultant specialising in the management of water mains and is recognised internationally as an expert in the field. She has particular expertise in the location of water mains and other buried assets and also in applying the principals of asset management to developing countries.

Tom Sangster is a professionally qualified Civil Engineer with 35 years of experience in geotechnical engineering and underground pipe networks and is Managing Director of Downley Consultants, an internationally renowned consulting engineer specializing in trenchless technology projects worldwide. His experience in underground infrastructure encompasses inspection, assessment, and rehabilitation and in developing strategies for managing rehabilitation programs including risk management. He is a member of the Council of UKSTT and a past President of the Swiss Society for Trenchless Technology, CHSTT.
